I've been working on some final changes to my scene and polishing it up a bit, so here is my work up to this point, still a couple of weeks until submission so i wont be submitting it just yet as I may have some thoughts for change.
I'm Currently working on some half wireframe half textured renders so they will be uploaded shortly! As will some texture and asset images.

Project Update
It has been a while since my last post, and I do feel slightly guilty for no updating as much as I should /could be as this blog has been very helpful to me over the course of the year. I have been saving my progress over the past few months, so now I'll share some of the stuff I've been working on.
When I began modeling, I imagined my scene to be set in a cave deep underground, however there is very limited possibilities with the amount of props i could use and textures, so I changed to a sort of "Tomb". Obviously inspired by the ancients (Mayan, Aztec, Egyptian, Roman) So I began furthering my research. Although I still wanted the environment to be enclosed underground, it is more like a room/chamber as opposed to being a large cavern environment.
Below are some renders of my images, there a quite a few more props to be added so these are not final.

As the project is meant for a game engine, it is very low poly and i'm relying on my texturing skills for the detail. I'm not a master of texturing, although I have made huge progress in this area and am proud of what i have achieved in this semester.
A few changes will have to be made for the candles, as they are a bit jagged round the edges so this will be sorted in the final renders.

Ancient Civilization
When we think of Sci-Fi and alien environments, we always seem to associate them with the future however after watching a documentary about ancient civilizations, i began to try a new approach to my work. Whilst you may have doubts on these theories ( I do myself!), they are still interesting as a source of research and inspired me to think more about the direction of my project.
When we think about the ancient civilizations of South America (Mayan, Inca, Aztec) and the Ancient Egyptians, Some of the Monuments and Landmarks they built were quite incredible. The cuts in the stone, and carvings in the rock would have taken a lot of brute strength and fine craftsmanship or did they use technology not from this world? or even this galaxy?
Carvings within the rocks represent spacecraft and technology far before their time.
Mayan god looks to be wearing some sort of breathing apparatus or spacesuit.

Could the gods believed in these ancient times actually be visitors from places outside our earth?
Admiral Richard Byrd - Hollow Earth Theory
Theory that the earth is not solid and made up of crust, mantle and core. This theory describes the earth is actually hollow, and inside the earth there is another land, inhabited by advanced races.
Our Inner Earth neighbours
For a few million years the Inner Earth has been home to a very highly advanced civilization, called Agartha. This world inside the globe consists of a large continent and more than 120 underground cities. Its citizenry is a gathering of different heritages, cultures and races. The vast majority have lived on the surface and have disappeared to the inner Earth such as the ancestors of Hyperborea, Atlantis, Lemuria and even Nazi-Germany. All live peacefully and in total harmony with nature. They are in regular contact with extraterrestrial civilizations.

In the image below the tracks of satellites around the Earth are cautiously directed away from the opening in the North Pole. It necessarily produces frustrations amongst scientists as certain data is inaccessible as we can read on the NASA site: "The circular gap over the Earth's geographic pole is due to a gap in the satellite coverage."

Space Environments from Films.
Film sets from recent times and films from the past. Two visual styles here, both have a futuristic look here however although they are set in the future, there is still a retro feel to the older examples. Its interesting to see the way that the past decades perceived the future to look.
